We picked a perfect day for it, weatherwise. It was a little cool, not very humid. The skies threatened rain but never delivered so there weren't many people out either. I have never been to Great Falls and now I am wondering why it took me 10 years to see it. It is really very pretty and so very close to us (only a 20-30 minute drive).
The girls got to check out some kayaks at the visitors center. They also spent a good amount of time coloring in the children's' center. This has recently become one of Ellie's favorite pastimes.
We had a great time seeing the falls. There was a man in a kayak who was attempting to go upstream. We spent a good deal of time watching him unsuccessfully make his way. Man, he was huffing and puffing. I would have thrown in the towel after two minutes.Here's a great picture of the falls. Isn't it beautiful?

We found this awesome tree with a big hole in the bottom. Ellie was being oh so cool when we took her picture.

Then we went on a little hike along the trail that would accommodate strollers. The most exciting part came when Matt (nature lover and gifted animal spotter that he is) noticed a little baby fawn only maybe 20 yards away from us. He was sitting incredibly still in a patch of grass by a little creek. His mother was no where to be seen, clearly she was avoiding us and the other hikers. I have never been so close to a wild deer. It was a pretty cool experience.

We wrapped up our visit with a picnic lunch and a couple games of tag. I'm so glad we hit this landmark. I definitely want to visit again, definitely sooner than 10 years from now.
