To Sleep, Perchance to Dream

Well, we finally did it. After nights and nights of endless crying and wailing, we decided it was time to let our six-month-old daughter learn her most valuable lesson in life - how to fall asleep on her own. So we let her cry. The first night, we were sure that she would scream and scream for at least three hours. Instead, she only cried for 37 minutes. After that, she didn't cry any longer than 7 to 14 minutes. Now that we've been doing this for a few weeks, she doesn't cry at all, except for rare occasions. It's been a FABULOUS experience. I wish we had done it earlier. While Ellie's naps are still pretty short and she does still get up once a night to feed, overall she is sleeping better and so are we, which is the best part about it. Ah, to sleep, perchance to dream.
