Kite Festival 2010

We made the trek to the National Mall again this year to participate in the Kite Festival. It really is a spectacular sight to see so many kites flying with the Washington Monument or Capital Building in the background. I love this city.

Both Ellie and Annie liked flying the kites. This year, Annie could be trusted to keep a hold of the kite, which was nice. Our $1 kites are still the best ones around. The wind was a little disappointing. It was there, but variable, which created a little bit of a challenge to keep the kites up for long periods of time.

I just think juxtaposing a Thomas the Train kite with the Washington Monument is funny.

We only spent an hour or so on the Mall. Then we headed to the National Building Museum for the Family Day to kick off the Cherry Blossom Festival. They had all sorts of booths set up with springy crafts and things. Ellie and Annie had a great time and were sad when we said it was time to go, but it was pretty crowded and there wasn't anything too spectacular there. I don't know if I'll push for us to go next year. We'll have to see... Still, it's great to even have something fun and free to do on a Saturday morning and we had two fun things to do!

And the cherry blossoms were blooming so we got some cute shots with the girls outside of the Building Museum. Got to love riding on Daddy's shoulders.
