We got the go ahead for solid foods and she's tried all of her veggies, grains and is beginning fruit. She's kind of been ambivalent about eating, the exact opposite of Ellie and Annie - they really loved to eat. But she tried bananas for the first time today and absolutely adored them. So maybe we have found something for her to get excited about in the eating department. In general, her appetite seems lower than the other girls as well. I'm not worried about though, since as you can tell from her weight percentile, she is clearly growing and thriving.
She had her first sickness a couple of weeks ago - a really nasty cold and cough. At first I was worried that it was an ear infection too, but thankfully she got better soon and didn't show signs of a hurting ear. Mostly it was a low fever, coughing and a lack of appetite. But for being sick, she was still a little angel and pretty pleasant.
She can now roll from her back to her tummy and her tummy to her back. She did back to tummy first and is much better at it than the other. It's funny because as soon as you lie her down on her back she rolls over. But then she gets stuck on her tummy and can't roll herself back over so she starts wailing. If she doesn't like being on her tummy, why does she roll over all of the time? Silly girl. Actually since writing this a few days ago, she has really gotten adept at rolling from her tummy to her back too. Now when I put her down and leave the room she can sometimes end up on the other side of the room. Look out!
And she really surprised us when we found her first tooth last Saturday. The older girls didn't get their teeth until much later (7 or 8 months), so it was kind of a shocker to find the little thing poking out, even though she has been drooling and gnawing on anything she can get her gums on for a while.
As far as sleeping goes, she's doing pretty well. She still gets up once a night to feed (except last night, not at all - I love her!) But she usually goes right back to bed. Many days she likes to get up during the 6am hour and we like to ignore her. But she usually wins that battle. She naps pretty well. It's always a balancing act, juggling her morning nap with all of our morning activities. At least her afternoon nap is consistent. And then there's the occasional catnap too.
All in all she's still a pretty perfect baby. She's also got the best smile. It takes up most of her face. And if you can get to do it, her giggle is absolutely fabulous to hear. Ellie and Annie are becoming pros at getting her to laugh. Ellie is still enthralled with Leah. If Leah is in the room, she wants to be with her. She's the best helper. I really lucked out with that sweetie!
