Blossoms in the Morning

Yet another post about the blossoms. This time, though, it's about my annual early morning walk around the Tidal Basin. Each year, I love going really early in the morning to see the blossoms while they are in peak. I used to do this with my roommates in years past and it's a tradition I really love. This year, I was able to convince a friend from church to join me and we had a really great time.

We got a slow start because we had a rough time finding parking and we ended up much further from the Tidal Basin than we intended. Plus we only had enough quarters to get 45 minutes on the meter (bad preparation on my part), so we had to hoof it over there. But it was wonderful. It was a foggy, cloudy morning - great for taking pictures. And it started raining just a few minutes before we finished up - meaning that there were very few people out and about. This is the time where I really love the cherry blossoms. It is so quiet (relatively speaking) few crowds, just me walking, talking with a friend, enjoying my city. Fantastic.

Pretty isn't it? And no one was in sight.

What a rare picture to not see anyone on the path under the blossoms! That's a great tradition!
