We had some friends from Utah visiting us for about a week - my good friend, Mikelle and her family. I knew Mikelle my last year of college. She has since gotten married and had two super cute children. Well, they were in town for the wedding of one of Mikelle's former roommates, Courtney. So we got to host them (and other former roomie, Laura,) while they went to the wedding and toured the city. They had a pretty busy schedule with the wedding and all and we had lots of things going on to, so it was a little challenge for us to actually do something together, though we did start out our visit to the kite festival with them.
Fortunately on their last full day, they went to the zoo and we tagged along. Since I had a visiting teaching lunch already set up, they took Ellie earlier and Annie and I met up with them later.
It was such a pretty day. The weather was perfect - dry and not too hot; a little windy but not too bad. Ellie loved seeing all of the animals and Annie was pretty good considering that she didn't get an afternoon nap. I think the highlight for Ellie was playing in the soft play area that is shaped like a pizza (who needs animals?).

Ellie is pretending to fly like a bird, (obviously).

Ellie really loved Mikelle's little girl, Mikaila, who is 5. She kept talking about her. Mikaila, this, Mikaila that. I think she would have followed Mikaila anywhere and done anything Mikaila did. One morning we snuck into her room and found her looking out the window singing Mikaila, Mikaila over and over. It was so cute! She was really sad when Mikaila left. It is always so fun to host friends. And we're not done hosting yet. Matt's cousin and her husband come next week.
