We went to the Alexandria tree lighting and of course Santa came. Last year, Ellie was terrified of Santa. But this year, she's much more open to him. She even wanted to sit on Santa's lap! We told her that he would give her a candy cane. That clearly made it worth it to her. Ellie and I waited in line to meet him. Ellie walked right up to him, took the candy cane from his extended hand and kept walking! I had to stop her and remind her that she was supposed to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas, which she happily did. But it was funny that she was really only interested in the candy cane.
While we were waiting for Santa, Matt discovered that Annie is deathly afraid of Frosty the Snowman. They had a guy dressed up as Frosty and Matt helped Annie give him a high five. Apparently she turned away with such a look of true terror on her face and just clung to Matt with incredible force. Matt says he's never seen her so scared!
