We decided to finally upgrade our decrepit oven. Original to our house, it is truly a dinosaur. We've sort of been in the market for a year, but just haven't sealed the deal. But with the Black Friday on our side we decided it was now or never. Because we wanted the purchase of a new oven to enhance our home's resale value, we decided to go with stainless steel. But once that decision was made we determined that we would have to upgrade our refrigerator and hood too, so they would match. Suddenly a simple oven purchase, got more involved and expensive.
Then we discovered that stainless steel has many flaws. The two most important flaws to us are - it shows way too many hand prints (and we have a lot of little hands in our house!) and it's not magnetic, so magnets don't work on it (and we have LOTS of magnets in our house too!). So we found an alternative - clean steel. And we love it. We got what we felt to be a good deal and did our part in bailing out the economy.*
Our new fridge and oven look beautiful. And it is wonderful to have an oven that has a timer that actually works. We even have an oven light. WOW!!!! Not only that, we were able to sell our old fridge on Craigslist (love it!) and gave away the old stove too (Craiglist again, love it!) Now we get to enjoy what is essentially our present for Christmas, our anniversary, and our birthdays for the next year. Merry Christmas indeed!
*I just got a phone call from the President expressing his personal thanks.

VERY NICE! New appliances to me make me want to cook and be in the kitchen more. I bet you've used them quite a bit, hu?
Very nice! I like them a lot! Doesn't it feel good? Merry Christmas!
I see you had fridge and oven envy! :) You bought the same exact fridge we did! Haha - different stove though. Enjoy them - it makes a huge difference to have better working equipment.
Excellent looking appliances. Congrats! I wish we'd gone with your brand. WE have the fridge that shows every smudge and handprint. It looks nice for 5 minutes after cleaning. Oh well.
Hmm. Your 'old' oven looks exactly like mine. I've thought some about replacing it, but am hoping to hold out a little longer.
