Lyrics Memorization

Though I love her dearly, Ellie, like any other toddler gets a little antsy during sacrament meeting. Sometimes it's virtually impossible to open up the hymnbook to sing along with the congregation. So I have been thinking about doing this for a long time now - ever since Ellie started being more active during the hour plus long meeting. Fortunately, I have many of the hymns memorized, so now it's gotten to the point where I don't even open the book, I just sing from memory - this past Sunday I actually knew all four hymns by heart - what luck! However, I don't have every hymn memorized yet.

Hence my new goal. I want to memorize at least four hymns a month - including all verses. Considering I have been singing these songs since I was born, I don't think it will be that hard. I'm inspired by an old friend of mine - a mother of three beautiful girls - who also has most of the hymns memorized as well, for the very same reason. If Mary Beth can do it, I can too. So wish me luck. I begin today.

I think that is a practical, wonderful idea. Now, if you feel spiritual, you can hum the lyrics in your head as well! It won't take being at church to rejoice in the Lord!
