Snow

Well, we finally got some snow Tuesday. I have mixed feelings about it. I like snow because it's fun for Ellie to play in. But Washington DC does a lousy job of dealing with the snow. They just don't plow the roads effectively, making any amount of snowfall a true hazard. Our neighborhood is pretty lousy about it as well. To make matters worse, the day after it snowed we had freezing rain making the sidewalks veritable ice rinks. And we don't have skates.

But the actual day of snow was fun. Matt worked from home so he was able to play with the girls outside in the snow for about an hour. Ellie was very excited to play in the snow. Unfortunately the snow was very powdery and didn't lend well to making a snowman. We made a noble attempt, but we only managed a little snowman. Ellie also really loved making a snow angel. Annie liked the snow at first, but as soon as she got a little cold, she made it clear that she wanted to GET OUT of the cold RIGHT AWAY!

Now two days later, the roads are clear for the most part, but the county still acts like this is a major catastrophe. Can you believe the schools actually have a 2 hour delay? (This after being cancelled the past two days) Puh-lease!!! Growing up in northern Indiana, we rarely got snow days and when we did, it was a blizzard out there. What a bunch of pansies. I'm particularly bummed because Ellie's dance class was cancelled because of the school delay. Lame! Three weeks in and she's only been to one class, because I forgot the first one and now third class has been cancelled. (And of course, we didn't find out until we actually got to the rec center. Blast!) Oh well. Hopefully next week the groundhog will predict an early spring. Now that the snow has frozen over and Ellie has had her fun playing in it, I'm SOOOO done with it!
